Una Buckley wins Dawn Dairies Most Stylish Hat 2009 title

Local lady, Josie McCannon, was declared the Dawn Dairies Queen of Fashion 2009 at ladies day at the Killarney Races on Thursday 16th of July. Top stylists and TV celebrities, Andrea Roche and Lisa Fitzpatrick flew down to judge the prestigious event and Josies sense of style and originality caught their eye and won her the top prize. Event sponsors, Gerard Coughlan, General Manager of Dawn Dairies, presented Josie with a trip for two to New York City and a specially commissioned crystal vase. This is the 16th year Dawn Dairies have sponsored ladies day at Killarney and the event continues to grow in popularity attracting glamorous ladies from all over Ireland and beyond.
Laura Tangney, also from Killarney, was declared the first runner up. The winner of the hotly contested Dawn Dairies Most Stylist Hat Award was Una Buckley from Listowel. Una was presented with a weekend escape to the luxury Mount Juliet House, Kilkenny and a limited edition Ronnie Ryan head piece. Despite heavy rain, huge crowds descended upon the race course on the last day of the four day July festival, making it one of the most well attended and stylish ladies day to date. The next Festival Meeting takes place in Killarney from Tuesday 18th to Friday 21st of August.
Josie wore a figure hugging, gold stitched, knee length dress with ornate gold frill trim purchased in Effigy Boutique Tralee. As a part time milliner, Josie made her own hat, an extravagant heart shaped Gold and antique lace creation with a matching bag, built around a bird nesting box! First runner up, Laura Tangney purchased her stunning pin stripe and black pencil dress in the sale from Envy Boutique Killarney and accessories from Dunnes Stores. The winner of the Dawn Dairies Most Stylish Hat, Una Buckley, had her outfit made by well known local designer, Carol Kelly and hat by milliner Aoife Hannon.
Andrea Roche and Lisa Fitzpatrick will follow in the footsteps of many other Irish style icons who have previously judged the Dawn Dairies Queen of Fashion including celebrity couples, Brian Ormond and Pippa O Connor and boyzone pop star Keith Duffy and his wife Lisa, top models including former Miss World Rosanna Davison, Natasha Byram, Marie Staunton and Yvonne Keating, and TV personalities Grainne Seoige, Caroline Morahan and Anne Doyle.
The Dawn Dairies Queen of Fashion attracts capacity crowds and ends the popular four day meeting (13th - 16th July) on a super stylish high note! In addition to sponsoring the Dairies Dairies Queen of Fashion, Dawn also sponsors the day’s racing including the feature race the EUR15,500 Dawn Milk Run Handicap Hurdle and the EUR11,000 Dawn Flavoured Milk Handicap and the EUR11,000 Dawn Omega Milk Handicap, making the day a winner alright both on and off the track! This Dawns 29th year of sponsoring racing in Killarney. Dawn Dairies is part of the international food and food ingredients company, Kerry Group plc.
The next meeting in Killarney is the NEW AUGUST FESTIVAL MEETING FROM TUESDAY 18TH TO FRIDAY 21ST OF AUGUST.
