Killarney is one of the world’s leading tourist destinations, offering exceptional level of service and value. As always amongst the fashion set, the most anticipated moment at the launch, was the announcement of the 2009 Dawn Dairies Queen of Fashion Judges. Now in its 16th year, the Dawn Dairies ladies day is long established as one of the premier ladies day events in the country. Gerard Coughlan, General Manager, Dawn Dairies Killarney, delighted guests with the official announcement that stylish duo and well known TV personalities, Andrea Roche and Lisa Fitzpatrick, will judge this prestigious event at the July festival. The winner of the title Dawn Dairies Queen of Fashion will win a trip for two to New York City as well as a specially commissioned Crystal Vase. Also, due to the success of the inaugural - Most Stylish Hat Award introduced last year, once again ladies will have the opportunity to use their imagination and sense of style, and compete for this stand alone Award. This category will be judged by Lisa and Andrea separately to the Best Dressed Lady and will be awarded to the most stylish hat or head piece on course on ladies day. The winner will receive a fabulous weekend in the gracious Mount Juliet House and dinner on one of the nights in their award winning Lady Helen restaurant. Plus, very appropriately, a trail ride on horse back though their 1,500 acre estate. The Dawn Dairies Most Stylish Hat winner will also receive a specially commissioned Crystal Vase and a limited edition Ronnie Ryan head piece (sponsored by Jacob’s Creek).

Gerard Coughlan, General Manager, Dawn Dairies
Over the past few years, we have invited stylish celebrity couples, including Brian Ormond and Pippa O Connor, and Lisa and Keith Duffy, to judge the Queen of Fashion competition on Ladies Day. So, this year we once again decided to ask not one, but two, Irish style icons to do the honours!. Both are recipients of the prestigious VIP style award and are familiar faces from their frequent appearance in fashion magazines and on TV. So I am delighted to reveal that former Miss Ireland, top model and stylist Andrea Roche and fellow stylist and TV presenter, Lisa Fitzpatrick are our judges for the Queen of Fashion and Stylish Hat Award on Ladies Day. We look forward to welcoming Andrea and Lisa and know they will prove to be a winner alright for the thousands of ladies who make their annual stylish pilgrimage to our Dawn Dairies Ladies Day in Killarney.

Once again, HRI will host their popular Jacob’s Creek Champagne reception at the course for those who dress to impress and present each of our finalists with a special Jacob’s Creek presentation gift.

Lastly, I would like to warmly welcome here tonight many of the previous winners and finalists of the Dawn Dairies Queen of Fashion. Since Dawn commenced our sponsorship in 1994, your glamour, elegance and fashion forward sense of style has established this event as one of the top ladies day in Ireland. Thank you for your support and good luck to everyone as we look forward to another successful Dawn Dairies Ladies Day at the races in Killarney on the 16th of July.

Andrea Roche and Lisa Fitzpatrick will follow in the footsteps of many other Irish style icons who have previously judged the Dawn Dairies Queen of Fashion including celebrity couples, Brian Ormond and Pippa O Connor and boyzone pop star Keith Duffy and his wife Lisa; top models including former Miss World Rosanna Davison, Natasha Byram, Marie Staunton and Yvonne Keating, and TV personalities Grainne Seoige, Caroline Morahan and Anne Doyle.

Widely regarded as one of the most popular and fashionable race meetings in Ireland today, Killarney Festival Race Meetings (July and now in August) attract capacity crowds to what is certainly one of the most scenic race courses in Europe. The location of the race course in close proximity to the heart of Killarney town (one of Ireland’s premier tourist destinations) allows race-goers to enjoy the fun filled atmosphere long into the night due to numerous post racing events held in venues throughout the town during the festival.

This year’s four day July festival has three evening meetings (Monday 13th, Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th) and one afternoon (Thursday 16th). The 4 day August meeting features all afternoon meetings. Admission is EUR20 and children under 12 are free. Special admission and package offers are now available on the website.
